Ingredients

  • 1 cup diced full-fat bacon (you can also substitute the bacon with pork mince)
  • 2 cups julienne vegetables
  • 1 cup exotic baby mushrooms
  • dumpling wrappers (get it at your local Asian store or make your own)
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • sesame seeds
  • diced spring onion
  • salt and pepper to taste

Chilli oil dressing

  • 1 heaped tbsp chilli oil of choice 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp lime or lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds

Method

Heat a pan over medium heat and add 1 tbsp of neutral oil. Add the diced bacon or pork meat and fry until browned, then add the chopped vegetables and mushrooms. Fry for a few more minutes until the vegetables are cooked.

Add the soy sauce, honey, lemon juice, and 1 tbsp of sesame seeds to the filling. Stir and let cool.

Place 1 tbsp of filling in each wrapper to assemble the dumplings. Wet the edges of the wrapper, then fold over and pinch the edges together to seal.

Heat a clean pan over medium-high heat. Add 1 tbsp of oil. Place the dumplings in the pan with the bottom down, fry until browned on the bottom, then flip and fry until the other side is browned. Sprinkle with some extra sesame seeds.

Drizzle some chilli oil over the dumplings before serving, and garnish with diced spring onions.
